WHAT IS KARMA, REALLY?

WHAT IS KARMA, REALLY?

The modern occult society demonstrates many views and opinions on the subject of karma: what it is, what principles lie at its foundation and how it is realized.

In the following text we will briefly describe what the concept of Karma is in classical Magick.

The consciousness of every person is in itself an immortal, 22-dimensional structure, composed of energy/information, which develops over the course of many incarnations.

This structure is called a «Monad» in Magick and a «Soul» – in religions.
In every incarnation, a new personality is formed on top of the monad, which is why ordinary people do not remember their previous incarnations.

However, no matter whether the person remembers his/her incarnations or not, for the world he/she is still the same object as he/she was one or ten lives ago.
Thus, any person living today has a monad (soul) at the foundation of his/her personality, and this monad has already incarnated tens of times and carries on itself traces of all the events which had happened to this person during all the previous lives.

Karma is the name given to all the changes a person, i.e. a monad, has accumulated over many incarnations. These changes can be both positive (experience and knowledge) and negative (traumas and illnesses).

Karma is the Newton’s Third Law which states that any action causes a counter-action – any force that we apply causes an equal force in response.

By doing a deed we change the world, but at the same time we are changed too. Many of our deeds continue affecting us even after many incarnations.

Thus, we can say that there are no «Lords of Karma», or any other intelligent force which decides how to punish or award people for this or that deed. There is only the Newton’s Third Law, according to which any energy you spend will sooner or later return to you. The more significant the deed is, the more energy you put into it, the more significant and strong will its consequences be for you.

At the same time, one should remember that all the surrounding world is energy and information. So every action can be considered a manipulation with energy – which you either give to someone or take from someone.

If you have taken energy, you owe it. If you have given energy, then the one whom you gave it, owes you.

For example: if you have taken someone’s life (took the energy of life), burgled someone (took energy in the form of money), then you owe this energy, which you will return sooner or later. The debt repayment can occur in different forms: either your life will be taken in the same way as you did it, or you will give energy in any other way – in the form of health, money etc. (since all that surrounds you, all that you have is energy in various forms).

Example 2: if you give something, for example donate money, take care of or help someone, then you are giving your energy, which, according to the laws of Karma, will return to you in one form or another – as care, money, help, inheritance and so on.

There are no religious, moral or ethical principles in the way Karma functions. Only the laws of physics are working – the energy spent always returns to its source.

KARMIC BONDS

Energy connections form between people who have acquired debts towards each other.
If the debt is not settled in the life where it appeared, these energy connections are brought into the next life. This is called Karmic bonds.

Karmic bonds attract people to each other in new incarnations and lead to a person being born in a certain place to certain parents.

It sometimes happens that you experience a feeling towards a person you don’t know or barely know, without any visible reason. For example – love or hate, sympathy or antipathy. As a rule, this has to do with the fact that there is a Karmic bond between you, i.e. in previous lives you knew each other and there are some events connecting you – positive or negative.

To some extent, all the people who surround you in this life, with whom you have significant relationships, are connected to you karmically.

Some people refuse to believe in Karma when they first hear about it, since they see how often someone does multiple bad deeds and does not encounter any trouble.

This can happen for two reasons.

The first reason is that the person could have accumulated a lot of positive Karma, and so until he uses up all of it, nothing might threaten him.

The second reason is the so-called Significance. The idea of democracy, where all people are equal, is popular in today’s world. However, from the point of view of Magick, this is not exactly correct. Every person has a significance parameter, and for the world one person can have more significance than another.

At the same time, it does not matter whatsoever whether the person is good or bad from the viewpoints of the surrounding people.

Significance is determined not by the goodness or badness of a person, but by the level to which his/her consciousness is developed, as well as his engagement in processes which are important for the planet.

An action directed at a person with great significance leads to immediate consequences. An action directed at a person with low significance leads to consequences that can be spread in time.

KARMIC ILLNESSES

There is also the concept of Karmic diseases. Karmic illnesses are traumas which a person has brought with him/her from previous lives to the current incarnation.
If a person received a trauma in the previous life from which his/her body did not eventually recover in that incarnation, chances are high that this trauma will be transferred to the current incarnation as well.

POSITIVE KARMA

Apart from negative Karma (Karmic illnesses and debts) there is also such a thing as positive Karma, which is the experience that we had accumulated.
By doing various deeds, we learn and work out new valuable qualities of our consciousness and thus develop ourselves over many incarnations. Skills and abilities are also transferred to the next life. A talented person, who possesses this or that ability from birth, does not receive his/her talent from nowhere. Talent is not a heavenly gift – but the result of long and hard work in previous lives.

Thus, Karma can be divided into positive and negative:

Negative Karma – traumas, illnesses and other negative changes which happened to you as a result of the deeds you had done previously, as well as your unsettled debts.

Positive Karma – the experience and knowledge which you have accumulated over the period of many lives, as well as debts that other people owe you.

The above is but a brief description of the Karmic laws.

The laws of Karma, as well as the techniques for neutralizing negative Karma, healing Karmic illnesses and changing the events of the past are described in the 16th Arcane of the Tarot, which is one of the chapters of the Sacred book of Thoth.
